Da Nang is the fifth most populous city in Vietnam, with a population of over 1,380,000 people. Danang is a popular resort, a major economic center. The city is located on the coast of the South China Sea in central Vietnam, 759 km from Hanoi and 960 km from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). The city was founded in 192 AD. natives of Indonesia and had the name Indrapura.

The city was the capital of the Champa state from about 875 to 1000 AD. In 1858-1860, after a long siege, a victory was won over the Franco-Spanish troops, but this did not stop the subsequent transformation of Vietnam into a colony of France. During the French colonization of Indochina, the city was called Turan.

Architectural sights of Da Nang and its environs:

1. Golden Bridge

The Golden Bridge was built in 2018. In a short time, it has become one of the most striking sights not only in Da Nang, but in the whole of Vietnam. It got its name because of the metal structure covered with golden paint.
The Golden Bridge is located at an altitude exceeding 1400 meters above sea level. A unique look is given to it by supports in the form of two stone palms, which seem to hold the structure in weight.

2. Catholic Cathedral

The Cathedral is the only Catholic church in Da Nang. The monumental building is made in neo-gothic style. The stepped facade at each level ends with graceful turrets. On both sides of the building are marble statues of saints. The facade is painted in soft pink, which is why the locals called the cathedral the "Rose Church".

3. Linh Ung Pagoda

The temple is located on the Son Cha peninsula. Linh Ung Pagoda is visited by thousands of travelers from all over the world every year. The main element of the construction is the 67-meter statue of the Goddess of Mercy Kuan Yin.

4. Ruins of My Son Temple

The My Son temple complex is located in the province of Quang Nam, which is not far from Da Nang. It was built in the 10th century by representatives of the state of Champa. Temples were built over 800 years.

5. Pham Lam Pagoda

The pagoda is located in a quiet garden, near the center of Da Nang. Eateries, restaurants and vegetarian cafes are located nearby. The main attraction of the pagoda is a meter-long statue of Buddha sitting on a lotus. Here you can also see ancient manuscripts, golden figurines of the deity and embroidered cloths.

6. Cao Dai Temple

This is the only temple in Vietnam for those who profess the Cao Dai religion. Inside the temple is a huge altar, where a large ball called the "Divine Eye" is installed. The temple contains sculptures of Jesus, Mahomet, Lao Tzu, Buddha and Confucius.

7. Dragon Bridge

The Dragon Bridge in Da Nang is the main architectural landmark of the central part of the city. An original dragon-shaped structure spanning 666 meters connects the banks of the Han River. And every Saturday and Sunday at 21:00 everyone can go down to the embankment and enjoy the light show.

8. Bridge over the Han River

Drawbridge over the Han River. The bridge has an unusual design, the roadbed is partly supported by columns, partly supported by cables. At night, the bridge is brightly illuminated in different colors.

9. City embankment

The Danang embankment is equipped with a very wide sidewalk. The city embankment is decorated with numerous marble sculptures. In the evening, everything is illuminated with multi-colored lights. There are a large number of cafes and restaurants on the embankment.

Natural attractions around Da Nang

1. Cu Lao Cham Islands

Cu Lao Cham is a group of islands. They are known for their luxurious palm groves and white sand beaches. Coral reefs are hidden in the thickness of the island coastal waters - therefore, these islands attract diving and snorkeling enthusiasts.

2. Son Tra Peninsula (Monkey Mountain)

Son Tra is a peninsula with wild, untouched nature. Most of the peninsula is occupied by Monkey Mountain, because of which it received its second name. The hill is covered with tropical forest with thickets of mangroves, acacias and palm trees. There are sheer cliffs, caves, and most importantly, a breathtaking view opens up from the top. Since the days of the Vietnam War, an abandoned radar dome and a helipad have been preserved on the peninsula.

3. Haivan pass

The Haivan pass stretches for more than 20 kilometers. The pass is located between the cities of Da Nang and Hue. It is the world's most popular motorcycle trail. From the highest point, a stunning panorama of dense tropical thickets, an endless roadbed and the distant sea opens up.

4. Marble Mountains

The Marble Mountains are a group of five marble and limestone hills located in the Ng Han Son area, south of Da Nang city. The five mountains are named after the five elements: Kim (metal), Tui (water), Mok (wood), Hoa (fire), and Tho (earth). They are located 8 kilometers from Da Nang and 20 kilometers from Hoi An.

The best beaches in Da Nang

1. Non Nuoc Beach

Non Nuoc is a wild beach near the Marble Mountains. There is no infrastructure here. The sand on the coast is very white and clean, the water is azure blue. Many consider it the most beautiful wild beach in Da Nang.

2. Pham Van Dong Beach

Pham Van Dong Beach has a very developed infrastructure. There is a volleyball court, water slides, kangaroo trampolines, cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops. The beach is also known for its active nightlife.

3. My Khe Beach

My Khe Beach is over 10 kilometers long. The beach is covered with soft white sand. Lush palm trees provide shade. Water activities are developed on My Khe: snorkeling, diving, water skiing, surfing. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby.

3. Han Market

This is the most popular market in the city, operating since 1940. On its territory there are hundreds of stalls and shops where tourists buy souvenirs, clothes, hats, Vietnamese spices, fruits, seafood, sweets. There is also a food court in the market.

4. Asia Park Amusement Park

Asia Park combines the architectural and cultural features of ten Asian countries. It is divided into three sections: Amusement Park, Central Square, Park of Cultures. The most popular attraction is the Ferris Wheel, or the Sun Wheel, over 110 meters high. From the top point you can see the whole Da Nang at a glance.

5. Fantasy Park

Fantasy Park was created based on the works of Jules Verne. Each of the six zones of the unique attraction is dedicated to one novel. All rides, cafes and mini-museums are stylized under the theme of Jules Verne: a flight from a cannon to the moon, a journey to the center of the earth, a mysterious island, etc. The park is decorated with sculptures of pirates, giant animals, models of ancient ships and castles.

Ba Na Hills (Bana Hills) is a resort that is located high in the mountains in the suburbs of Da Nang. Ba Na Hills is often referred to as Vietnam's Disneyland, as there are so many different activities and great areas to relax. The official name of this park is Sun World Ba Na Hills.

1. Museum of Cham Sculpture

Champa, or Champa, is an ancient state that flourished on the territory of modern South and Central Vietnam from the 7th to the 17th centuries. The museum occupies a three-story building, entirely occupied by exhibition halls. The exhibition tells about the events of the Vietnam War. During the tour, tourists will see the weapons and personal belongings of the soldiers of the famous Fifth Division. The Fifth Division was formed in 1955. She controlled Saigon (the capital of Vietnam) and the surrounding cities. The division repeatedly prevented political upheavals and in difficult times was a real guardian of peace and order.

3. 3D Museum Art in Paradise Danang

Art in Paradise is an art museum of 3D painted objects. The museum is divided into nine themed areas, which showcase the unusual paintings of 20 Korean artists created by them over a period of four months. These are large 3D images painted on the walls, ceilings and floors of museum halls.

4. Wax museum

The museum is located on Ba Na Mountain (in the entertainment center of Ba Na Hills). It was created in 2010 as an analogue of the London museum center named after Madame Tussauds. Exhibits here exhibit wax figures of artists, politicians, scientists, athletes and other celebrities.
